Developing communicative competence including ability to express ideas and thoughts as well as the ability to communicate effectively and spontaneously in real-life contexts is the primary goal of Russian language programs. At MTA, however, leaners are enrolled in language programs, where the focus is on developing students’ reading competence rather than speaking skills. As the result, students’ performance at oral exams are often far from satisfaction. This paper explores ways of applying IT in designing systematic exercises to provide students with frequent practice in speaking Russian, which is expected to make great contribution to overall quality improvement in Russian teaching and learning at MTA.
